Welcome to The Pick List. This is the place where i write about the list of my favorite movies according to a certain theme. As we are now in the middle of February when romance is up in the air to welcome Valentine’s Day, therefore i would like to recommend several movies that suit with the atmosphere.
This time on Pick List the theme is “Asian Drama Romance Movies”. Listed below may not contain critically best movies, because i pick them according to my personal taste. In terms of melodrama romance, Asian movies are still my preference. So here are the list of my five favorite Asian romance melodrama movies which you can enjoy to reimagine love and romance a la far east cinema.
Secret (2007)
Secret is a melodrama romance movie that has patient twist, touching plot, and unpredictable fantasy. The movie carries its emotional weight in every aspect from storyline to cinematography that create the perfect melancholic and reflective atmosphere for the movie.

Koizora (2007)
Koizora (Sky of Love) is a movie with simple love story between two young couple who went through many hardships. There is not so many twist but the movie has a strong storyline and characteristic. With the usual plot of East-Asian drama romantic movies, Koizora is a genuine tearjerker.

Cyborg She (2008)
Cyborg She has everything that makes a good romantic movie. It rises some smile, it is melancholic, it has a cute side, and also it has its own uniqueness. The movie has a good, strong, and unique plot that also has a typical Japanese movie’s weird quirky charms.

Always (2011)
Always is like the perfect epitome for a melodrama romance movie. Supported with strong characters, storyline, atmosphere, and also technical elements. The unique traits of the two main characters are shown through the camera, the gloomy dark man and the warm and cheerful woman. It is a touching and gloomy movie yet sometimes also warm and light hearted.

Architecture 101 (2012)
The title of this movie actually didn’t turn me on, like is there any relation between architecture or building a house with a love story? And then it is actually a good romance movie. Architecture 101 with its own unique traits give a narrative about first love. It is a cute, pure, and sentimental drama romantic movie.
