The Lost World is a place that is under an ice field and is inhabited by various types of dinosaurs. Various characters grow until some form a group of antagonistic dinosaurs that often disturb other species. Buck (Simon Pegg) is often overwhelmed by their actions in stopping their mischief.
In the midst of Buck’s overwhelming task of confronting some obnoxious dinosaurs, Crash (Vincent Tong) and Eddie (Aaron Harris) accidentally return to an enigmatic tropical realm concealed beneath the ice. Crash and Eddie must face challenges from these dinosaurs, which adds a level of difficulty and suspense to their adventure.
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild tells the story of Eddie and Crash, who want to find their own lives and challenges. The two decide to leave and get out of Ellie’s shadow but end up trapped in the tropical world again.
In contrast to Ice Age: Dawn of Dinosaurs, which featured three companions, this time, the two individuals possess only one another. Despite being caught in danger by the big dinosaurs, they luckily meet up with Buck and begin their epic journey.
This movie will focus on the two possums who are trying to find their adventure with Buck and Zee (Justina Machado) Meanwhile, Ellie and her 3 friends also start looking for Eddie and Crash but find trouble when Ellie is due to give birth.
The movie tries to refresh the franchise by introducing a new setting and characters. How all the animals can come together, even though it seems impossible that dinosaurs can live in the same place with other animals. However, it all looks real and successfully realized in this film.
One of the consistencies of this film is its distinctive humor, with many funny moments that remind us of the previous Ice Age films. Eddie and Crash also retain their goofy nature, which is sure to elicit laughter.
In terms of plot, the movie shows simplicity but feels rushed and lacks depth compared to the previous films in the series. Zee’s characterization, while interesting, is not explored well enough to make a significant impact.
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is not a sequel, but a spin-off of the Ice Age franchise. That’s what makes this movie different from the previous movie that focused on the 3 friends, the decision to focus the story on Crash and Eddie is a bold and refreshing move. It gives the two possums a chance to be more than just cute side characters.
Like the rest of the Ice Age franchise, the movie shows the simplicity of the twins’ journey to find their adventure. Although the film is filled with action and humor, it still delves into deeper themes of friendship and independence.
Crash and Eddie must learn to rely on each other and find strength in themselves as they face the dangers of a new environment. This adventure is about growing up and discovering who they are, beyond the roles they play in their possum pack.
Overall, the movie is a good attempt to refresh the franchise by introducing new main characters. At the same time, it also allows previously considered supporting characters to shine in the spotlight.
