Just like any other big cities in the world, Jakarta is also a movie, isn’t it? It can be romance, action, family, or teenage drama. Depends on how you see Jakarta and as most of us can see that Jakarta is one of the most common locations for many Indonesian movies.
To celebrate the 493rd anniversary of Jakarta, here I write my favorite Jakarta movies. The List is the place where i write about the list of my favorite movies according to a certain theme. This time the theme is “Movies That Define Jakarta”. Listed below may not contain critically best movies, because i pick them according to my personal taste.
Realita, Cinta dan Rock n’ Roll (2006)
This is a drama romance movie that has a deep story of love and friendship in the life of teenagers. Although the main casts are new actors but the movie is not left behind and it still can deliver a strong emotion and plot. Sometimes it full of laughter and sometimes it full of tears, sometimes it is a romance and sometimes it is a bromance. Realita, Cinta dan Rock n’ Roll is a roller coaster ride movie.

A Copy of My Mind (2016)
A Copy of My Mind is a drama romance movie that has a deep sub-text and it also has a beautiful tone of color. The movie tells a story about how love simply grows between a low-class couples who live in a small area of Jakarta. The movie is simple without many too much dramatic twists yet the movie is very sexy and engaging.

Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (2002)
Ada Apa Dengan Cinta or in English is ‘What’s Up With Cinta’ is a teen love movie that has a very mainstream plot. High school students fall in love, heartbroken, girls’ squad friendship, jealous and separation. The plot is quite standard, but the movie is executed in a very detail manner with unique characters and some interesting sub-plots that make the movie different than any other mainstream teen romance movies.
