Dunia anime mengalami kegemparan. Anime Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood (FMA:B), yang biasanya bertengger di posisi puncak dalam kategori Top Anime di My Anime List (MAL), dikudeta.
Pelakunya, tidak lain dan tidak bukan, animeslice of life yang baru rilis September 2023 lalu, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End atau Freiren. Menutup tahun 2023, Freiren mendapatkan rating 9,14, sedikit lebih tinggi, dan mengalahkan FMA:B yang mendapatkan rating 9,09.
Selama bertahun-tahun, FMA:B menyandang julukan “Raja Anime”, karena memuncaki Top Anime di MyAnimeList. Kendati beberapa kali pernah disalip oleh sejumlah anime, seperti Attack on Titan atau Kimi no Nawa, kondisi ketertinggalan tersebut tidak berlangsung lama. FMA:B selalu bisa menyalip mereka dengan cepat.
Agaknya, FMA:B kesulitan untuk menyalip dan menumbangkan lawan barunya kali ini. Kondisi ini membuat fandom FMA:B gusar. Mereka tidak terima, anime yang mereka sangat cintai, dikalahkan oleh anime lain. Terlebih, anime yang mengalahkannya adalah anime yang usia rilisnya lebih muda.
Keberingasan anggota fandom FMA:B telah dikenal kaum wibu sejak lama. Seringkali, mereka membuat rating anime lainnya turun dengan sengaja.
Mereka melakukan melakukan ispam bintang satu. Perilaku ini membuat mereka mendapatkan julukan preman MAL, seperti yang tertuang dalam sebuah unggahan Facebook.
Mengutip situs MAL, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood menceritakan perjalanan kakak-beradik Edward dan Alphonse Elric. Mereka melakukan ritual terlarang untuk menghidupkan kembali ibunya. Alih-alih berhasil, keduanya malah kehilangan anggota tubuhnya sebagai bayaran atas tindakannya itu. Keduanya menemukan cara mengembalikan anggota tubuhnya, yaitu dengan Batu Bertuah. Dalam perjalanan pencarian Batu Bertuah tersebut, mereka malah terseret dalam sebuah konspirasi yang menyelimuti negaranya.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, anime yang rilis pada 5 April 2009 ini merupakan remake dari Full Metal Alchemist yang rilis pada 2003. Meski merupakan sebuah remake, terdapat perbedaan ending antara keduanya.
Antara rentang tahun antara 2010 hingga sekarang, posisi FMA:B sudah pernah beberapa kali dikudeta.
Kudea tersebut dilakuka oleh “rival abadi”-nya, Gintama. Melansir sebuah diskusi dalam MAL pada 2018, terjadi perang terbuka antara FMA:B dengan Gintama. Meski FMA:B meraih tampuk Top Anime, Gintama berhasil memenanghan hati kaum wibu dengan meraih gelar Ruler of MAL.
Selain Gintama, beberapa anime lain seperti Kimi no Nawa, Owarimonogatari 2nd, Attack On Titan, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War sampai Oshi No Ko pernah merasakan bertengger di peringkat satu. Meski tidak lama, anime-anime tersebut pada akhirnya harus lengser dari tampuk tertinggi, dikudeta kembali oleh FMA:B. Desas-desus mengatakan, hal tersebut terjadi karena ulah para preman MAL yang memainkan jari-jari mereka.
Apakah Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood (FMA:B) bersama dengan preman MAL-nya dapat kembali berkuasa? Atau, Frieren akan tetap berada di posisi puncak, dan menyandang gelar “Raja Anime” baru? Jawaban atas kedua pertanyaan tersebut, mungkin akan diketahui dalam beberapa bulan ke depan.
